PRESENTATION EVENING

We held a Presentation Evening on 27th April in order to give Nick Frampton (our ex MD) the gift of a Vintage Rosewood and Silver Conductors Baton and our grateful thanks for his wonderful commitment to the chorus.

Nick, who has been our MD since February 2006, retired earlier this year due to ill health. After only a vew months away from us he looks better already!

We took advantage of the evening and presented our cheque for £500 to Karen Eeles, Head of Fundraising for Earl Mountbatten Hospice. The Hospice was nominated as our chosen charity for 2009 and part of our donation was collected during our performances in Cowes last August.

March 2010

ISLE OF WIGHT MUSIC FESTIVAL

We are extremely pleased to have been awarded a distinction in the Barbershop Section of the Isle of Wight Music Festival on 5th March. The adjudicator's comments included "There was an excellent balance of harmony here. A warm sound. Superb presentation. You looked and sounded delightful!

October 2009

GRANT SUCCESS

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation's Grassroots Grants Programme. This will enable us to provide new costume for all our members. Watch this space for how great we'll look! Many thanks to all involved.

SING FOR FUN

We are holding a "Singing for Fun" day on 28th November 2009. This is a great opportunity to join us for the day and have an introduction to singing, barbershop style. Our music team will be on hand to help and support and you'll have the chance to meet and sing with the chorus. The venue is Landguard Manor, Shanklin and the day starts from 10 am and closes at 4 pm. Registration is from 9 am. To book your place, please call Maria, on 840692. See you there!

March 2009

We are extremely proud to have won the Canterbury Cup in the Barbershop Section of the Isle of Wight Music Festival. The competition was held in All Saints' Church, Ryde on Friday, March 6th.

November 2008:

Wight Satin celebrates their 21st anniversary at a party held at the Riverside Centre, Town Quay, Newport. The party was held on Sunday 30th November and included all members past and present. (More photos on the gallery page.)

June 2008:

We are delighted to have been placed third in the barbershop section of the Bournemouth Music Festival on 28th June. Held at the Pavillion Theatre in Bournemouth we had a lovely day out (marred only by the absence of our MD - Nick, we all miss you and wish you a speedy recovery). Shirley directed us in her usual fantastic style and a great time was had by all. (More photos on the gallery page.)

In October 2008 we will be representing the island by competing in the IABS International Barbershop Competion at Sligo and plans are currently underway to finalise our travel arrangements. Can you help? We are actively seeking sponsorship and funding for this event.

In November 2008 we celebrate our 21st anniversary and we're currently seeking a venue for this event.

BBC Children In Need - 16th November 2007. We were delighted to take part in the BBC South programme filmed at Milestones Museum in Basingstoke where we presented our cheque for £2,200. Not only did we make our television debut, but a video clip of our Around the Island Day Trip is now on the BBC South website and also on You Tube's Children In Need section. Our grateful thanks to everyone who helped us, particularly Wightlink Ferries and Newport Bus Museum.

Thursday 29th June saw the launch of our Summer Fundraising Event for Children In Need. Arrangements have been made to sing and fundraise in a number of venues around the island (see above) and more are still being planned.
